COVID-19 Scams: What to Watch for

As we have seen many times before, fraudsters use times of uncertainty to take advantage of people.  Unfortunately, this is already happening in our communities.   We have included some tips below that were issued by Federal Trade Commission.

This information can help prepare you to look for suspicious activity that may be a possible scam.

Avoid Virus Exposure by Banking Digitally

As the COVID-19 Coronavirus advances and with flu season in full swing, area citizens concerned about catching or spreading a virus don’t necessarily have to go to the bank to complete their banking.

Instead of having to physically make the trip to the branch, Citizens Bank offers customers the opportunity to use online and digital services, through which they have the ability to handle their banking needs whenever and wherever they want.

The CDC recommends that people who are mildly ill with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 isolate at home during their illness. Your healthcare provider has decided you can be cared for at home. Below are instructions for isolating at home.

Stay home except to get medical care

Restrict your activities outside your home, except for getting medical care. Do not go to work, school, or public areas. Avoid using public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis. Ask visitors to stay away from your home.
